«Слепые» повороты – одна из главных проблем всех водителей. Исследователи Северо-Западного университета США (NU) разработали технологию, позволяющую буквально «заглядывать» за угол и обнаруживать автомобили и пешеходов.
Любой объект мы видим, когда свет падает на него, и часть отраженного от него света фиксирует сетчатка нашего глаза. Однако такая «схема» не работает, если объект скрыт другими объектами или рассеивающими средами, к примеру, туманом. Но вполне реально использовать рассеянный свет от нескольких объектов, чтобы все-таки заглянуть «за угол».
Система, разработанная американскими учеными, излучает свет, который отражается от поверхности объекта. Далее отражение возвращается обратно, и это фиксируется датчиком. Как результат – алгоритмы формируют изображение невидимого объекта. Основной недостаток – низкое разрешение изображения. Чтобы исправить его, требуется больше времени для обработки.
Суть новой технологии состоит в слиянии световых волн от двух лазеров в одну синтетическую волну, генерирующую трехмерные голографические изображения. По словам разработчиков, система способна в пределах 50 миллисекунд фиксировать скрытые в большом угловом поле зрения мелкие фрагменты предметов. Этого вполне достаточно для обнаружения находящегося за углом приближающегося автомобиля или пешехода.
Технология не только позволит транспортным средствам реагировать на скрытые опасности, но и с помощью эндоскопов быть задействованной в промышленности и в медицине, где, к примеру, используя систему камер, можно будет обследовать внутренние органы человека.
