В Швейцарии разработали полимер, который защищает металлы от коррозии и легко восстанавливается

Швейцарские ученые из Федерального технологического института работают над получением патента на новый чудо-материал для антикоррозионной защиты металлических покрытий. Он получил название «полифениленметилен» и является полимером, который специально разработан для получения одновременно четырех важных свойств. Помимо защиты от коррозии он может визуализировать повреждения и самостоятельно их устранять, а после окончания срока службы пригоден для вторичной переработки.

Полимер в жидкой форме распыляется по поверхности металла, где вступает с ним в химическую реакцию с нагревом. Пока покрытие теплое, оно равномерно заполняет все пустоты и выравнивается, создавая тонкую, но плотную защиту от коррозии. Если проделать в нем глубокую царапину, достаточно капнуть в нее немного полимера – реакция с нагревом запустится вновь, повреждение затянется, материал остынет и защита восстановится.

Чтобы точно понять, куда наносить полимер при ремонте, ученые добавили в его состав флуоресцентные компоненты. При облучении ультрафиолетовой лампой поверхность равномерно светится, а поврежденные участки остаются темными. В экспериментах с ускоренным старением в солевом растворе все свойства полимера сохранялись в течение многих циклов, а на металле так и не возникло следов коррозии.

Разумеется, даже у такого интересного материала есть предельный срок службы — однако структура полимера такова, что позволяет без труда удалить его с поверхности и отправить на переработку. Ученым удалось довести показатель повторного использования до 95 % и даже после пяти сроков эксплуатации и переработки полимер не потерял базовых свойств.
