Открытие первого в мире моста из нержавеющей стали, изготовленного по технологии 3D-печати и соединившего берега одного из городских каналов, состоялось в Амстердаме при участии королевы Нидерландов – Максимы.
Новый мост – совместный проект лаборатории Йориса Лаармана и ABB, Air Liquide, ArcelorMittal, Autodesk, AMS Institute и Lenovo. В начале предполагалось возвести мост непосредственно на месте, но поскольку это оказалось невозможным, было решено, что его изготовят на заводе методом 3D-печати.
Установку моста осуществила компания MX3D. Мост был напечатан за полгода еще в 2018 году, однако в силу различных обстоятельств был смонтирован только спустя три года.
Вес моста – 6 тонн, длина – 12,2, а ширина 6,3 м. В его создании участвовали четыре робота, которые сваривали конструкции с помощью газа и сварочной проволоки.
