Правда, цоколь небоскреба представляет собой пятиуровневую автостоянку из бетона, которая, в свою очередь, опирается на систему металлических свай, также заполненных бетоном. Из него же изготовлены шахта лифта и лестничные марши, а наружная «обшивка» практически полностью стеклянная. И все же основная конструкция небоскреба — это система балок, перекрытий и опор из клееного бруса.
Наличие бетона и других материалов несколько снижает «деревянный» статус здания-рекордсмена. Однако, поскольку основные вертикальные и боковые конструкции изготовлены из дерева, здание относится к классу деревянных сооружений.
На возведение необычной высотки ушло два года. Использование конструкций из клееного бруса позволило сократить сроки строительства на четверть по сравнению с бетонным 25-этажным аналогом. При этом специальная пропитка обеспечивает деревянному Ascent очень высокую пожарную безопасность.
